Conclusion

Hello again,

So. Here I am, back at home. If it think about the past one and a half week, I can honestly say that I have reached all of my internship objectives and personal goals. I have learned so much about the nature and culture by going on tourist trips along the coast and to the cliffs and by being surrounded by Scottish people. I've also definitely spoken English for longer stretches of time, as all the campsite guests and Pam, Mike and Steve (and Mary) all spoke English to us. However, I also learned that I am more fluent than I thought I was, which is of course great. As I mentioned in one of my earlier blogs, I've also definitely learned what goes on in a campsite behind the scenes, as we were involved in a lot of things, and if we weren't, Steve, Mike and Pam talked about it in our presence. It was more than I'd expected. I learned that running a campsite is way more difficult than it seems. As for feeling useful, that definitely happened. Pam, Mike and Steve expressed multiple times how great we were working and how happy they were with what we've done, and the man who married at the campsite this weekend was also very happy. When saying goodbye to Pam at the station, she also told us that we were always welcome to come help again, which (for me) also illustrates how useful we were to the campsite. The last goal (my most important one) was to have fun, and I can definitely say that that worked out great. Aside from working we met so many interesting and nice people, we saw so many beautiful things and we played so many games, and I got to do all of this with some of my best friends (unfortunately, one of our group was missing). I've learned many useful skills and, at the same time, practiced my English. I can always fondly look back on this internship, and the great memories we've made.
