Day 3

Hello everyone!

Today was our first day of the actual internship. We got up at eight o’clock and had breakfast together with the four of us. When it was nine, we actually started working. Steve, the handyman of the campsite, guided us. He showed us how to do our tasks, and also joined us for our morning snack. Today, we mostly cleaned and painted, which was more fun than we imagined it to be because we were in one room with the four of us. My personal job was to repaint the entire bathroom. One might think that putting us in one room to do our tasks would slow us down significantly, but it actually had the opposite effect: we stayed motivated together. Steve also noticed this: he was very surprised with our progress, as we worked faster than he had anticipated.

We also met some of the people staying on the campsite, which actually posed a problem we had not imagined beforehand: the super-heavy accent some Scottish people seem to have. One man asked us about what we were doing (painting) and then proudly told us that he was a painter by trade. It did however take us more than one attempt and some outside help to figure out that that was what he said (oops).

Tomorrow we will continue painting (without Steve, as he has the weekends off).
